LOUIS ROEDERER BRUT Vintage
VINTAGE
« A chameleon champagne, concentrated, fruity and deep. It is all the power and maturity of the Verzy Pinot noir that is sought here. »
THE ULTIMATE EXPRESSION OF OUR ESTATE
OF “LA MONTAGNE”
This vintage champagne, aims to capture the ultimate expression of the Pinot noir from our “La Montagne” estate, concentrated on the original vines purchased by the Champagne House. The Vintage is therefore a testament to an exceptional year, a snapshot of a terroir that has undergone a slow maturation process.
A WINE THAT IS CONCENTRATED AND POWERFUL
Composed of Pinot noir sometimes complemented by Chardonnay, the Vintage cuvée is generally matured on lees for 4 years and left for a minimum of 6 months after dégorgement (disgorging) to attain perfect maturity.
A PERFECT BALANCE
The power and maturity of the Verzy Pinot Noir forge its identity, its notes of intense fruit, juicy pear and concentrated citrus, almost candied, acidic red fruits.
An extraordinary vintage which is also the year in which the Champagne region was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! 2015 followed the continental trend of that decade: a mild, wet winter and a hot, dry summer. The summer, hot and sunny, brought record-breaking temperatures and water stress. The second half of August brought some very welcome rain, giving the vines some much needed relief. Thanks to this fresh finish, the vines produced juicy, ripe and concentrated grapes. Our ambition for this vintage? To capture the concentration which is the hallmark of this spectacular vintage!

Tasting Notes
SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS
The bouquet is open and rich yet also wonderfully fresh. It offers an explosion of ripe, delicate fruit with intense notes of mirabelle plum from the Pinot noir, complemented by sweet lemon meringue pie and delicate notes of jasmine from the Chardonnay.
Nez
The nose opens up to reveal autolytic characters and evolves towards smoky, roasted notes and freshly baked pastries.
Bouche
The palate is deep and dense with a big, well-structured backbone. The texture is simply mesmerising with its fleshy mouthfeel from the Pinot noir that coats the palate before giving way to an incredible saline freshness with a pleasant hint of bitterness. This wine combines the strength, intensity and power of the delectably ripe Pinot noirs which are balanced to perfection by the chalky freshness and density from the Chardonnay which forms the majority of the blend.
Apparence
The intense Pinot noir bouquet includes notes of zesty red fruit (redcurrants) and juicy, sun-drenched yellow fruit (mirabelle plums, wild peaches). After aeration, the nose evolves towards the more classic aromas of the Pinot noirs grown in ‘La Montagne’: dried fruit and smoky notes combined with a few zesty and spicy aromas (white pepper).
The palate is dynamic, concentrated and powerful. The texture is fleshy and vinous with a lovely acidity that incorporates the freshness and concentration of the juice with great ease. The structure is energetic, well-honed, firm and almost classic. The fruity aromas gradually give way to sweeter notes of chocolate (cocoa beans) and even delicate roasted notes. The finish reveals concentrated roasted and stewed fruit underpinned by saline, mouth-watering flavours leaving a magnificent final sensation of lightness, generosity and elegance.
Best served between 10°C and 12°C.

VINIFICATION, BLENDING AND AGEING
Winemaking
Champagne Louis Roederer was established in 1776 and is now run by the 7th generation of the family, Frédéric Rouzaud. With over 240 hectares of vineyards located exclusively in Grands and Premiers Crus villages, Champagne Louis Roederer is self-sufficient for approximately 70% of their non-vintage production and 100% of their vintage champagnes.
Pioneers in sustainable farming, Louis Roederer use organic practices in all their vineyards, and are certified organic in 115 ha, with the remainder of the estate in conversion. The whole estate uses biodynamic practices and is inspired by the concepts of permaculture. Working hand in hand with nature, respecting terroir and the pursuit of taste underpins everything they do.
Fascinated by the diverse aromatic qualities of the Pinot Noir grapes in Champagne, Louis Roederer uses the structure and power of the Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims to create its Vintage. Exposed to the north-east, the grapes mature more slowly and produce wines that are sometimes tights and closed at the beginning of the ageing process, but their character intensifies and becomes more refined through ageing in wood over long periods. In 1850, Louis Roederer acquired 15 hectares in the Grand Cru vineyard of Verzy in order to master the cultivation of the grapes in this cuvée
Vineyards
Pinot Noir from Verzy, Chardonnay from Chouilly
Winemaking
The blend is 70% Pinot noir and 30% Chardonnay. 34% of the wine was fermented in oak. It went through 24% malolactic fermentation and has a dosage of 8g/l
